ASSESSMENT OF ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE IN SELECTED URBAN RESIDENTIAL AND CONSTRUCTION AREAS

The work presented in this paper includes a field investigation of road traffic noise between residential and construction areas selected urban area. aim study was to assess the level pollution from Seri Kembangan, Selangor. Therefore, included measurements level, evaluation percentage volume areas; identification correlation level. An EXTECH 407764 sound meter used take for 1 hour 30 minutes one-minute intervals at both sites. parameter collected monitoring average (LAeq). conducted using manual counts minutes. Four types vehicles were counted, namely cars, vans, motorcycles, heavy vehicles. Based on statistical analysis, it can be concluded that sites had high levels which exceeded maximum permissible limit 60 dBA during daytime, according Malaysian guidelines, due several factors. findings show infrastructure such as barriers need further implemented, especially areas. Mitigation must carried out by contractors. Additionally, investigations relevant authorities reduce may affect quality life communities
